This coffee comes from the interior mountains of Costa Rica. It is one of the four regions in the Central Valley where coffee is grown at altitudes of 1,200 meters. One of the differentiating factors of farmers from this region is the widespread use of micromills, that is small equipment that each farmer has to mill their own coffee. This allows for a better control of their processing and fermentation.
The climate here is typical of a cloud forest environment: warm, wet, and covered in dense vegetation.
We have been to the Central Valley on a couple of occasions and can truly say this is one of the most beautiful coffee growing regions in Central America, with volcanic soils and ideal drainage conditions. A must try!
